Intricube.jpg (26170 bytes) This put-together puzzle is made of twenty-seven 1.13" multi-colored hardwood blocks. Some of the blocks have holes in them. Some have rods in them. Some have both.

This is what it looks like solved. Take it all apart and then try to reassemble it.

Many different hardwoods are used to make this very nice puzzle.

The eleven page booklet (in French) that comes with this puzzle contains diagrams of twenty-two shapes that you are challenged to make using these pieces. The most difficult shapes will take less than an hour. Intricube 2.jpg (30116 bytes)
Here’s the official instructions:

“INTRICUBE” is a new puzzle with which you may build many shapes. Nothing was left to chance in the initial shape. Each piece of the 3x3x3 cube has been logically designed. The twenty-seven unit cubes all have a hole. Nine of those do not have a dowel, nine have a 1 unit-long dowel and the last nine have a 2 unit-long dowel. Each group of 9 cubes may be divided into 3 sub-groups of three cubes with different colors corresponding to different wood species. Thus we end up with twenty-seven pieces, as pictured page 2 of the original problems booklet.

For each problem, all the holes and dowels must be used (every dowel should fit inside a hole). Their actual position on the visible sides are not shown though. One of the possible solutions to problem #1 is the initial shape of the puzzle. Most of the other shapes should be built outside the wooden stand using all the pieces.

The difficulty level is indicated for some more difficult problems (see range of difficulty page 15). A solution to the problems marked with an “S” is provided (see pages 11 & 12). The other problems always have at least one solution.

Thanks to the many possible combinations of pieces, you can also build your own shapes, as long as they contain twenty-seven unit cubes. Pages 13 & 14 are left blank for you to add your own designs.

We wish you much pleasure with the exciting “INTRICUBE” puzzle!
