This is a new design of the “Diabolical Cube” from Professor
Hoffman’s classic 1893 book “Puzzles Old and New.”
Bernhard Schweitzer has taken the original design and 'adjusted' some of the pieces.
Originally, the design had six planar (flat) pieces with 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7
unit-cubes in each. The new design keeps the same volumes for each
piece but moves some of the units around to form 3 planar and 3 non-planar pieces to have
fun with. This is a good puzzle for cube puzzle collectors, or for kids and
grown-ups to polish their skills before tackling the more difficult cubes. |
